Lung function and self-rated symptoms in healthy volunteers after exposure to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) exhaust with and without particles

Louise Gren et al.

Summary: This study investigated the health effects of exposure to renewable diesel exhaust. The results showed that exposure to HVO exhaust can lead to an increase in self-reported irritation symptoms and a slight decrease in nasal patency.

Critical Review of Diesel Exhaust Exposure Health Impact Research Relevant to Occupational Settings: Are We Controlling the Wrong Pollutants?

Katherine R. Landwehr et al.

Summary: Exposure to diesel exhaust from both older and newer technology engines negatively impacts the lungs, heart, and brain. Individuals with asthma, allergies, or respiratory diseases are more vulnerable to these effects compared to healthy individuals. Current occupational exposure limits for diesel exhaust particles and elemental carbon may need to be adjusted to mitigate health risks.

Photoplethysmographic Waveform Analysis for Autonomic Reactivity Assessment in Depression

Spyridon Kontaxis et al.

Summary: This study found statistically significant individual differences in heart rate (HR) and the percentage of amplitude loss in the second reflected wave (A(13)) from stress to recovery period in both healthy control and MDD groups. However, autonomic reactivity indices related to A(13) were higher in healthy control subjects than in MDD patients, indicating a reduced stress response in depressed individuals.
