Therapeutic potential of p53 reactivation in cervical cancer

Xiangxuan Zhao et al.

Summary: Cervical cancer is a common malignancy affecting women worldwide, with surgical resection being the most effective treatment at early stages. Dysregulation of the tumor suppressor p53 is associated with therapeutic insensitivity and relapse in CC, while restoration of p53 activity can inhibit tumor growth and eliminate drug resistance.

Inhibitors of gelatinases (MMP-2 and MMP-9) for the management of hematological malignancies

Sanjib Das et al.

Summary: Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) play significant roles in solid tumor invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis, while their role in hematological malignancies is less understood. Recent studies have shown correlations between gelatinases and hematological malignancies, leading to the development of potential inhibitors for these conditions.

Baicalin mediated regulation of key signaling pathways in cancer

Shilpi Singh et al.

Summary: Baicalin has shown significant anti-proliferative potential in various cancer cell lines, attracting interest as a potential chemotherapeutic modality. However, its clinical use is limited by low bioavailability, fast metabolism, and other factors. Improving pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, as well as addressing knowledge and technology gaps, are essential for establishing baicalin as an effective and safe compound for cancer treatment.

Lupeol and its derivatives as anticancer and anti-inflammatory agents: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic efficacy

Kai Liu et al.

Summary: Lupeol, a natural triterpenoid found in fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants, exhibits a wide range of pharmacological activities including anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Studies have shown that structural modifications to lupeol can lead to stronger bioactivities, such as antiprotozoal or anticancer effects.

Assessment of reproductive toxicity and genotoxicity of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata and its processed products in male mice

Kuo Zhang et al.

Summary: Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, commonly known as Fuzi, is a representative medicine in traditional Chinese medicine for restoring yang and rescuing patients from collapse. This study aimed to assess the reproductive toxicity and genotoxicity of Fuzi and its processed products in male mice, revealing that while Fuzi showed significant toxicity, especially in terms of reducing sperm count and causing DNA damage, the processed products had significantly lower toxicity, possibly due to an increase in testosterone level and reduction in oxidative stress.
