Oral Manifestations of Rett Syndrome-A Systematic Review

Syed Sarosh Mandi et al.

Summary: Rett Syndrome is a genetic developmental disorder that presents in females between 6 to 18 months of age, with common oral manifestations including bruxism, masseteric hypertrophy, anterior open bite, and non-physiological tooth wear. It is important to increase awareness and education among dentists and assistants regarding the oral manifestations of Rett syndrome in order to improve care for these differently abled patients.

Flexible annotation atlas of the mouse brain: combining and dividing brain structures of the Allen Brain Atlas while maintaining anatomical hierarchy

Norio Takata et al.

Summary: The study constructed a flexible annotation atlas (FAA) of the mouse brain using public resources from the Allen Institute for Brain Science, allowing for objective combination or division of nodes while maintaining the anatomical hierarchy of brain structures. The FAA demonstrated unique characteristics in analyzing resting-state functional connectivity (FC) across the anatomical hierarchy and among different brain structures. FAA can improve the consistency of whole brain ROI definition among laboratories by fulfilling researchers' various requests with its flexibility and reproducibility.

MeCP2 controls neural stem cell fate specification through miR-199a-mediated inhibition of BMP-Smad signaling

Hideyuki Nakashima et al.

Summary: This study reveals the mechanism of MeCP2/miR-199a axis in regulating neural stem cell differentiation, further confirming the importance of BMP signaling in RTT brain development, and proposing the MeCP2/miR-199a/Smad1 axis as a potential therapeutic target for RTT.

Asymmetry and Heterogeneity: Part and Parcel in Cardiac Autonomic Innervation and Function

Tjitske E. Zandstra et al.

Summary: The cANS plays a crucial role in cardiac adaptation, with anatomical and functional differences affecting the treatment of cardiac diseases. The neglect of right ventricle studies and the lack of human research on certain principles highlight the importance of further investigations in this area.
