Genetic Programming-Based Feature Selection for Emotion Classification Using EEG Signal

Aditi Sakalle et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns have had a significant impact on global mental health. Therefore, recognizing emotions has become a crucial area of research for scholars worldwide. In this study, a feature selection technique called Genetic Program-Based Feature Selection (FSGP) is proposed. Using a fourteen-channel EEG device, 70 brain signal features are inputted, and with the help of Genetic Programming (GP), irrelevant and redundant features are separated, leaving 32 relevant features. The proposed model achieves a classification accuracy of 85%, outperforming previous works.

A LSTM based deep learning network for recognizing emotions using wireless brainwave driven system

Aditi Sakalle et al.

Summary: The research aims to develop a brainwave-driven system for recognizing positive, negative, and neutral emotions, with a focus on the LSTM model. The classification performance is evaluated through comparisons with different models and cross-validation techniques, with results showing that brain signals from the 18-25 age group are most effective in emotion identification, and females are more emotionally active than males.

An enhanced fitness function to recognize unbalanced human emotions data

Divya Acharya et al.

Summary: This study focuses on automatic human emotion recognition using EEG signals and analyzes the impact of different genres, age, and gender on human emotions. The results show that the enhanced D-score Genetic Programming performs the best in classifying emotions, and the method's generalizability and reliability are validated through publicly available EEG datasets. The research also reveals that participants in the amusement genre exhibit positive emotions, with brain signals of the 26-35 age group showing the highest emotional identification, and females are more emotionally active compared to males. These findings confirm the potential utility of the method for emotion recognition.

EEG-Based Personality Prediction Using Fast Fourier Transform and DeepLSTM Model

Harshit Bhardwaj et al.

Summary: This paper implements a DeepLSTM network to classify personality traits using EEG signals, leveraging the MBTI model for prediction. The proposed model achieved a maximum classification accuracy of 96.94% and outperformed state-of-the-art methods when tested on both collected and publicly available EEG datasets.
