Predicting the future land use and land cover changes for Bhavani basin, Tamil Nadu, India, using QGIS MOLUSCE plugin

Manikandan Kamaraj et al.

Summary: This study used the QGIS 2.18.24 version MOLUSCE plugin (MLP-ANN) model to analyze land-use changes in the Bhavani basin and forecast future changes. The study found that DEM, distance from the road, and distance from builtup areas have significant effects on land-use changes. The projections indicate a continued increase in cropland and builtup areas in the coming years.

Scenario simulation of land use and land cover change in mining area

Xiaoyan Chang et al.

Summary: The study found that the driving factors had a good explanatory power for LULC changes, and the simulation accuracy of the CLUE-S model was good. Under the three scenarios, the area of farmland gradually decreased, with urban and rural construction land and tidal wetland decreasing the fastest.

A GIS-Cellular Automata-Based Model for Coupling Urban Sprawl and Flood Susceptibility Assessment

Evangelia Stamellou et al.

Summary: This study focuses on flood susceptibility in the drainage basin of Erasinos River in the Attica Region, Greece. By using the AHP model and SLEUTH urban sprawl model, the research aims to determine flood susceptibility and vulnerability, providing decision support for future urban planning.

Application of modified cellular automata Markov chain model: forecasting land use pattern in Lebanon

Walid Al-Shaar et al.

Summary: This study modifies the Cellular Automata Markov Chain Model for predicting future land use patterns in Lebanon and finds it more accurate than the Extended Markov Chain model. It validates the spatial effects of built-up densities and suggests that the extension of the Cellular Automata Markov Chain Model is an innovative tool for urban planning and land use policy forecasting.

The Applicability of the Extended Markov Chain Model to the Land Use Dynamics in Lebanon

Walid Al-Shaar et al.

Summary: This study validates the extended Markov chain modeling for predicting land use dynamics in Lebanon by integrating population density maps, Landsat images, and GIS software. The model divided built-up land into categories based on development density and generated future land use projections. Insights and recommendations were provided for addressing future land use dynamics in Lebanon.
