On the Coupling and Coordination Development between Environment and Economy: A Case Study in the Yangtze River Delta of China

Menghua Deng et al.

Summary: This study explores the spatial-temporal evolution and influencing factors of the coupling and coordination development of the environment and economy in the Yangtze River Delta. The results show that the degree of coupling coordination has improved from primary coordination to intermediate coordination in most cities. The distribution of coupling coordination is correlated with geographical location, with significantly lower values in the western region compared to the eastern cities. The GDP in the economic subsystem and the annual average concentration of PM2.5 in the environmental subsystem are identified as the most influencing factors of the coupling coordination development.

Modern service industry agglomeration and its influencing factors: spatial interaction in Chinese cities

Xiaowen Wang et al.

Summary: This study uses a spatial econometric model to test the development trends and factors influencing the modern service industry's agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta city group. The results show that the industry has the highest agglomeration in leasing and business and the lowest in education. The overall concentration of the industry is generally low, implying a more fragmented distribution.

Technology Innovation, Economic Growth and Carbon Emissions in the Context of Carbon Neutrality: Evidence from BRICS

Huan Zhang

Summary: This study empirically explores the impact of technological innovation and economic growth on carbon emissions in five BRICS countries from 1990 to 2019. Findings show that technology patents contribute to carbon emission reduction and carbon neutralization, while economic growth in emerging economies increases carbon emissions.

The Spatial Interaction Effect of Environmental Regulation on Urban Innovation Capacity: Empirical Evidence from China

Ruomeng Zhou et al.

Summary: The study shows that environmental regulation has a positive impact on urban innovation capacity, and innovation capacity exhibits spatial dependence. Additionally, factors such as city informatization level, government expenditures on science and technology, city economic scale, and industrial development level influence the innovation capacity of neighboring cities and have spatial spillover effects.

An improved decomposition approach toward energy rebound effects in China: Review since 1992

Jiandong Chen et al.

Summary: The energy rebound effect occurs when technological progress reduces energy use, but actual energy savings are lower than potential conservations. In China, fossil fuel consumption has a higher rebound effect compared to non-fossil fuels due to heterogeneous impacts of technology. Additionally, the rebound effects for both types of energy are mainly caused by the substitution effect rather than the output effect. Improving non-fossil energy efficiency can help reduce the fossil energy rebound effect.
