Effect of Architectural Building Design Parameters on Thermal Comfort and Energy Consumption in Higher Education Buildings

Salah Alghamdi et al.

Summary: This study aims to determine the most important architectural building design parameters (ABDPs) that can increase thermal comfort and reduce energy use in educational buildings. Through sensitivity analysis and uncertainty analysis, the study found that parameters such as cooling set-point temperatures and roof construction have a significant impact on thermal comfort and energy consumption.

Comparative analysis of user comfort and thermal performance of six types of vernacular dwellings as the first step towards climate resilient, sustainable and bioclimatic architecture in western sub-Saharan Africa

Barbara Widera

Summary: This study assessed thermal comfort conditions in vernacular dwellings in western sub-Saharan Africa, finding that traditional dwellings have better comfort levels during hot and dry seasons compared to modern houses. The research also highlighted the impact of ventilation on CO2 concentrations indoors and emphasized the optimal air exchange rate for ensuring user thermal comfort.
