State of the art on the application of waste materials in geopolymer concrete

Z. Podolsky et al.

Summary: This paper reviews and analyzes the mechanical and durability properties of geopolymer concrete containing various waste materials. It highlights the lack of mix design guidelines, which result in a wide variance of properties, and calls for the development of guidelines focusing on optimal Si/Al ratio, NaOH concentration, and SS/SH ratio to account for the addition of waste materials with different chemical compositions and morphology.

Recycled waste glass powder as a partial replacement of cement in concrete containing silica fume and fly ash

K. I. M. Ibrahim

Summary: This study investigated the use of waste glass powder as a partial replacement of cement in three types of concrete. The results showed that adding waste glass powder can increase the strength of ordinary concrete, but decrease the strength of silica fume and fly ash concrete. Additionally, water absorption and density decreased with the incorporation of waste glass powder, while workability increased for all concrete types.

Sulphuric Acid Resistance of Slag Geopolymer Concrete Modified with Fly Ash and Silica Fume

Hafez E. Elyamany et al.

Summary: This experimental study on the sulphuric acid resistance of geopolymer concrete examined the variables of fly ash content, silica fume content, sodium hydroxide molarity, and water content, with results showing that slag geopolymer concrete exhibited the best resistance to sulphuric acid attacks compared to other types containing fly ash and silica fume.
