A high-continuity and annotated tomato reference genome

Xiao Su et al.

Summary: This study assembled an updated reference genome of an important horticultural crop - tomato, and identified genomic fragments associated with human selection as well as candidate genes related to important agronomic traits in tomato using high-density genetic maps. These results provide opportunities for understanding the evolution of the tomato genome and studying genetic mechanisms in tomato biology.

Efficient Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated stable genetic transformation of green microalgae, Chlorella sorokiniana

Prabin Kumar Sharma et al.

Summary: A stable and efficient Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation system was established for the first time in Chlorella sorokiniana, resulting in significantly higher transformation efficiency. The integration of hptII gene into the genome of C. sorokiniana was confirmed, and the expression of hptII and GUS genes in the transgenic cell lines was detected. The growth and metabolic processes of transformed cells were not compromised by transgene expression, indicating the potential for future production of biofuels, carotenoids, nutraceuticals, and therapeutic proteins.
