Seismic interpretation, reservoir characterization, gas origin and entrapment of the Miocene-Pliocene Mangaa C sandstone, Karewa Gas Field, North Taranaki Basin, New Zealand

Ahmed A. Radwan et al.

Summary: The Karewa gas discovery in the Taranaki Basin of New Zealand revealed commercial gas potential in the Miocene-Pliocene stratigraphic horizons, originating from microbial carbonate reduction processes. The reservoir characteristics of the Mangaa C sandstone and the seal capacity analysis of the system confirm its gas potential and efficiency in sealing a thick gas column.

Three-Dimensional Structural and Petrophysical Modeling for Reservoir Characterization of the Mangahewa Formation, Pohokura Gas-Condensate Field, Taranaki Basin, New Zealand

Md Aminul Islam et al.

Summary: This study integrated 3D structural and petrophysical models to analyze the reservoir characteristics of the Mangahewa Formation in the Pohokura Gas-Condensate Field. The results indicated a complex structural mechanism, fault growth system, effective trapping, and good dissemination of petrophysical parameters. Proposed drilling sites for future exploration and development were also identified based on these models.

Static Reservoir Modeling of the Eocene Clastic Reservoirs in the Q-Field, Niger Delta, Nigeria

Austin E. Okoli et al.

Summary: This work integrates seismic and well log data to establish a 3D reservoir model of the Q-Field in Nigeria's Central Swamp Depobelt, focusing on the four principal clastic reservoir intervals of the Agbada Formation deposited during Eocene. The study inferred the spatial distribution and properties of the reservoir attributes, providing guidance and reference for future oil field development.

Reservoir quality evaluation of the Farewell sandstone by integrating sedimentological and well log analysis in the Kupe South Field, Taranaki Basin-New Zealand

S. M. Talha Qadri et al.

Summary: The study utilized sedimentological and well log-based petrophysical analyses to evaluate the Farewell sandstone reservoir formation in the Kupe South Field. Results showed variable composition in the sandstone, significant total porosity and permeability, as well as the presence of authigenic clay and carbonate affecting pore spaces. Well log analysis revealed low shale content, good porosity values, significant water and hydrocarbon saturation, and the presence of hydrocarbon-bearing zones, confirming the Farewell sandstone as a good reservoir formation.
