Scalarized Einstein-Maxwell-scalar black holes in anti-de Sitter spacetime

Guangzhou Guo et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the spontaneous scalarization of asymptotically anti-de Sitter charged black holes in a specific model with non-minimal coupling, discussing the domain of existence, stability, and phase structure for both RNAdS and scalarized black hole solutions. In a micro-canonical ensemble, scalarized solutions are thermodynamically favored, but there are richer phase transitions in a canonical ensemble, including a reentrant phase transition involving RNAdS and scalarized black holes.

Hairy black holes by gravitational decoupling

J. Ovalle et al.

Summary: In this study, black holes with hair represented by generic fields surrounding the central source of the Schwarzschild metric were examined. It was found that under certain conditions, the energy conditions can be preserved and a new mechanism to evade the no-hair theorem was provided. A non-trivial extension of the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole with a simple horizon structure was discovered as a direct application of this research.

Thermodynamically stable asymptotically flat hairy black holes with a dilaton potential: the general case

Dumitru Astefanesei et al.

Summary: This study extends the analysis of thermodynamic stability of four-dimensional asymptotically flat hairy black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with a non-trivial dilaton potential. It shows that a sub-class of hairy black holes are always thermodynamically stable and have well-defined extremal limits, regardless of theory parameters. The equilibrium configurations' local stability is likely related to the dilaton potential properties, decaying towards spatial infinity but behaving as a box near the horizon.

Spherical inhomogeneous solutions of Einstein and scalar-tensor gravity: A map of the land

Valerio Faraoni et al.

Summary: This review discusses spherical and inhomogeneous analytic solutions of the field equations of Einstein and scalar-tensor gravity, emphasizing different theories and their relations, while minimizing overlap with existing literature. The dynamic and static solutions, asymptotically flat or Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker, are explored within certain classes of geometries. Relations between various solutions, mostly emerged in the last decade, are highlighted.

Regular black holes and gravitational particle-like solutions in generic DHOST theories

Olaf Baake et al.

Summary: Researchers have constructed regular, asymptotically flat black holes of higher order scalar tensor (DHOST) theories using a generalized Kerr-Schild solution generating method. These solutions have a smooth core of chosen regularity and both inner and outer event horizons. Additionally, researchers have found massive, horizonless, particle-like solutions below a certain mass threshold.

Scalarized dyonic black holes in vector-tensor Horndeski gravity

Y. Brihaye et al.

Summary: The study explores the instability and bifurcation of generic dyonic Reissner-Nordstrom solutions when a real, massless scalar field is nonminimally coupled to the Horndeski interaction term. These electromagnetically charged solutions exhibit a horizon and a cloud of scalar hairs at specific values of the nonminimal coupling constant. The hairy black holes are analyzed in terms of the model's physical parameters, with discussions on critical phenomena limiting their existence domain.

Scalarized black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory with a quasitopological term

Yun Soo Myung et al.

Summary: The study investigates the phenomenon of scalarized charged black holes in the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory with a quasitopological term. By considering the tachyonic instability of a dyonic black hole, three sets of infinite scalarized charged black holes are obtained. The fundamental black hole is stable, while the excited black holes are unstable.
