Lepton-flavour violation in hadronic tau decays and μ-τ conversion in nuclei

Tomas Husek et al.

Summary: In this study, a model-independent analysis of lepton-flavour-violating processes involving tau leptons within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework was conducted. Constraints on the Wilson coefficients of operators contributing to these processes were established based on experimental limits. This work sets the stage for extracting related information from Belle II and future experiments.

Scalar leptoquarks in leptonic processes

Summary: Leptoquarks are hypothetical new particles that couple quarks directly to leptons. Recent research suggests they may explain flavor anomalies in the Standard Model predictions, generating effects in various quark and lepton processes.

Charged lepton flavor violation at the EIC

Vincenzo Cirigliano et al.

Summary: In this study, we analyzed the potential sensitivity of EIC to charged lepton flavor violation (CLFV) within the model-independent framework of SMEFT, focusing on the ep ->tau X channel. We found that electroweak dipole and four-fermion semi-leptonic operators involving light quarks are already strongly constrained by tau decays, while operators involving the c and b quarks present more promising discovery potential for the EIC.

Searching for charged lepton flavor violation at ep colliders

Stefan Antusch et al.

Summary: Using an effective theory approach, the sensitivity of electron-proton colliders for charged lepton flavor violation (cLFV) was investigated. It was shown that the LHeC could probe LFV conversion of an electron into a muon beyond current experimental bounds, and achieve more than an order of magnitude higher sensitivity for LFV conversion of an electron into a tau. The high sensitivities are possible due to the backward emission of the converted charged lepton, facilitating efficient separation of signal from background.
