B-anomalies from flavorful U(1)′ extensions, safely

Rigo Bause et al.

Summary: Extensions of the standard model with generation-dependent couplings are investigated as an explanation for anomalies in rare B-decays. The study focuses on stability and predictivity up to the Planck scale, introducing three generations of singlet fermions, an enlarged scalar sector, and possibly right-handed neutrinos. Gauge-anomaly free benchmarks consistent with experimental constraints are identified, and the two-loop running of couplings is studied to enhance predictive power.

More indications for lepton nonuniversality in b → sl+l-

T. Hurth et al.

Summary: The study by the LHCb collaboration confirms evidence for lepton flavour nonuniversality through updated measurements of R-K at a 3.1 Sigma level. Projections for future measurements suggest that LHCb may discover lepton nonuniversality in a single observable with Run 3 data. The study also analyzes other ratios and their ability to differentiate between various new physics options within effective field theory. Additionally, deviations in the ratios are compared with NP indications in angular observables of exclusive b -> sll transitions.

New physics in rare B decays after Moriond 2021

Wolfgang Altmannshofer et al.

Summary: The anomalies in rare B decays persist, with specific Wilson coefficients related to muons continuing to provide an excellent description of the data. Updated global analysis considers latest experimental input and offers predictions for lepton flavor universality observables and CP asymmetries that can be tested with more data.

On the significance of new physics in b → sl+l- decays

Gino Isidori et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the global significance of the new physics hypothesis in b -> sl(+)l(-) decays, incorporating the look-elsewhere effect for the first time. The trial-factor is estimated with pseudo-experiments, showing it can be as large as seven. The global significance is calculated to be 4.3 standard deviations by considering the most general description of a non-standard b -> sl(+)l(-) amplitude of short-distance origin and treating theoretical uncertainties in a highly conservative manner.

Anomalous Z′ bosons for anomalous B decays

Joe Davighi

Summary: By extending the Standard Model with an anomalous U(1)(X) gauge symmetry, this model aims to explain anomalies in b -> sll transitions and the fermion mass problem. The model features mixed gauge anomalies and requires integrating the masses of charged fermions to eliminate anomalies, while possessing high quality lepton flavor symmetries.

On the effective lifetime of Bs → μμγ

Alexandre Carvunis et al.

Summary: By studying the B-s(0) -> mu(+)mu(-)gamma effective lifetime and the CP-phase sensitive quantity, we have identified new insights on current B-decay discrepancies and explored the potential of distinguishing different scenarios in high q(2) region. The high q(2) region could serve as a valuable probe for short-distance CP-violating effects, contingent on progress in addressing form-factor uncertainties.

Implications of new evidence for lepton-universality violation in b → sl+ l- decays

Li-Sheng Geng et al.

Summary: Motivated by new evidence for new physics in b -> sll transitions, including clean lepton-universality ratios and purely leptonic Bs -> mu(+)mu(-) decay measurements, a discrepancy with the Standard Model at 4.0 sigma has been quantified. Different scenarios, such as purely left-handed or purely axial coupling to muons, show a 5 sigma pull from the Standard Model. The analysis of new-physics contributions with both vector and axial-vector couplings to muons has a more restricted allowed region, primarily due to the more precise measurement of Bs -> mu(+) mu(-) and inclusion of angular observables data.
