Propane Dehydrogenation on Single-Site [PtZn4] Intermetallic Catalysts

Sai Chen et al.

Summary: The single-site [PtZn4] catalyst developed in this study exhibits high selectivity and ultra-stability, achieving over 95% propylene selectivity in a high temperature range, with no obvious deactivation observed during long-term testing. The surface [PtZn4] ensembles in PtZn IMAs serve as key active site structures, promoting the C-H cleavage of propane while inhibiting further dehydrogenation of surface-bounded propylene, thereby improving selectivity and stability.

Tandem In2O3-Pt/Al2O3 catalyst for coupling of propane dehydrogenation to selective H2 combustion

Huan Yan et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that growing In2O3 over Pt/Al2O3 using atomic layer deposition results in a nanostructure that kinetically couples domains through surface hydrogen atom transfer, improving the selective oxidative dehydrogenation of propane. In contrast, other nanostructures, such as Pt on In2O3 or Pt mixed with In2O3, were unable to organize the reactions effectively, resulting in more propane combustion.

Isolated boron in zeolite for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane

Hang Zhou et al.

Summary: Isolated boron in a zeolite framework without B-O-B oligomers exhibits high activity and selectivity for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane (ODHP). The boron-silicon bonding structure hinders boron leaching in a humid atmosphere, enhancing catalyst durability. The -B[OH center dot center dot center dot O(H)-Si](2) structure in borosilicate zeolite serves as the active center for activating oxygen and carbon-hydrogen bonds to catalyze ODHP.

Understanding the Catalytic Sites in Porous Hexagonal Boron Nitride for the Epoxidation of Styrene

Hongquan Fu et al.

Summary: Porous hexagonal boron nitride (ph-BN) nano-sheets were synthesized via combustion and showed high catalytic activity due to oxygen-containing functional groups at the edges. By monitoring the evolution of surface functional groups at different temperatures, active functional groups on ph-BN were identified.

PtZn Intermetallic Compound Nanoparticles in Mesoporous Zeolite Exhibiting High Catalyst Durability for Propane Dehydrogenation

Seung Won Han et al.

Summary: A PtZn alloy nanoparticle catalyst supported on mesoporous zeolite was synthesized and showed high activity, selectivity, and long catalytic lifetime in propane dehydrogenation. Scanning transmission electron microscopic analysis revealed finely dispersed Pt1Zn1 intermetallic compound-type alloy nanoparticles in the mesoporous zeolite, which effectively suppressed catalyst deactivation. The mesoporous structure and surface silanol groups of the MFI zeolite were suggested to play a crucial role in promoting the formation of intermetallic alloy nanoparticles.

Recent progress in heterogeneous metal and metal oxide catalysts for direct dehydrogenation of ethane and propane

Yihu Dai et al.

Summary: This review outlines the progress of heterogeneous metals and metal oxides catalysts for the selective dehydrogenation of light alkanes developed in the past five years. The synthesis, structural information, catalytic properties and mechanisms of these catalysts for ethane-to-ethylene and propane-to-propylene dehydrogenation are comparatively summarized. Research indicates that these catalysts have potential application prospects in non-oxidative direct dehydrogenation reactions.
