Characterization of Lipopeptides Biosurfactants Produced by a Newly Isolated Strain Bacillus subtilis ZNI5: Potential Environmental Application

Ines Mnif et al.

Summary: In this study, a new strain of Bacillus subtilis ZNI5 was isolated from a hydrocarbon contaminated soil, aiming to produce lipopeptides biosurfactants. Different homologues of lipopeptides were selected and divided into four families. The ZNI5 Biosurfactant exhibited powerful surface-active properties, including a decrease in surface tension of water and the ability to disperse oil. It also showed great thermal, pH, and salts activity and stability, making it suitable for bioremediation and various industrial applications.
