ER-phagy responses in yeast, plants, and mammalian cells and their crosstalk with UPR and ERAD

Maurizio Molinari

Summary: ER-phagy is a process of clearing ER portions through a set of regulatory proteins called ER-phagy receptors, promoting ER fragmentation and lysosomal clearance. ER-phagy responses ensure the clearance of unnecessary, nonfunctional, or abnormal ER portions in cooperation with unfolded protein responses (UPRs) and ER-associated degradation (ERAD) to maintain ER function and homeostasis.
