T cell receptor beta germline variability is revealed by inference from repertoire data

Aviv Omer et al.

Summary: Adaptive immune receptor repertoire sequencing (AIRR-seq) is crucial for studying immune system dynamics. In this study, a B cell pipeline was adapted for genotype and haplotype inference of undocumented alleles in T cell receptor (TCR) data sets. The results revealed a rich picture of germline variability, and showed how a single nucleotide polymorphism dramatically affects the composition of the repertoire.

VJ Segment Usage of TCR-Beta Repertoire in Monozygotic Cystic Fibrosis Twins

Sebastian Fischer et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the T cell receptor repertoire of monozygotic CF twins and found strong genetic influence in the selection and recombination of TCR J and V genes, but clonal expansion caused by recurrent pulmonary infections may overshadow this influence in clinically discordant and/or severely affected twin pairs. In addition, sharing of clonotypes was significantly more frequent among monozygotic CF twins than among unrelated CF patients.

Immunoglobulin germline gene variation and its impact on human disease

Summary: Ig plays a crucial role in the immune system, with high-throughput sequencing enabling new discoveries of germline Ig alleles. Variations in Ig V genes have been linked to differential immune responses, impacting disease susceptibility and responses to vaccination, infection, and autoimmunity.
