pH dependent morphology and texture evolution of ZnO nanoparticles fabricated by microwave-assisted chemical synthesis and their photocatalytic dye degradation activities

M. Arellano-Cortaza et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the morphology, size, and synthesis conditions of ZnO nanostructures affect their photocatalytic performance, with different pH values of the reaction mixture influencing the properties of ZnO nanocrystals and their photocatalytic activity. The concentration of catalytic sites on the surface of ZnO nanostructures plays a crucial role in determining their photocatalytic activity, in addition to their size and specific surface area.

ZnO Nanostructures Application in Electrochemistry: Influence of Morphology

Agne Sulciute et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of morphology on the electrochemical properties of ZnO nanostructures, comparing tetrapods of different sizes, nanorods, and nanoparticles. The analysis revealed that large ZnO tetrapods had the highest active surface area and lowest peak separation value, close to theoretical values. It is established that the pore size in different ZnO nanostructures due to packing correlates with their electrochemical properties.

One-dimensional ZnO micro/nanostructures: deep insight into the growth mechanism and fine control of the microscopic morphology

Leshuang Wang et al.

Summary: Zinc oxide arrays with various microscopic morphologies are grown on fluorine-doped tin oxide substrates using a hydrothermal method, with the relationship between microscopic morphologies and reaction conditions studied in depth. The concentration of free Zn2+ ions in the solution is found to be the key factor affecting microstructures. The competition between kinetic control and thermodynamic control during crystal growth is determined by the concentration of the free Zn2+ ions, leading to the formation of different microscopic morphologies.
