Predictors of persistent inflammation in familial Mediterranean fever and association with damage

Hakan Babaoglu et al.

Summary: This study identified predictors of persistent inflammation in adult FMF patients for the first time, and found that persistent inflammation is a major cause of insidious damage. Male gender, lower education levels, and the presence of other inflammatory comorbidities were found to be more likely to lead to persistent inflammation.

Familial Mediterranean fever-related miR-197-3p targets IL1R1 gene and modulates inflammation in monocytes and synovial fibroblasts

Yeliz Z. Akkaya-Ulum et al.

Summary: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessively inherited autoinflammatory disease caused by mutations in the MEFV gene. Recent studies suggest that non-coding RNAs, particularly miRNAs, may play a role in the pathogenesis of autoinflammation. Research on miR-197-3p in FMF patients shows its potential anti-inflammatory effect, indicating a possible role in personalized medicine for autoinflammatory diseases.

Update in familial Mediterranean fever

Seza Ozen

Summary: Recent studies have revealed new insights into the pathogenesis of familial Mediterranean fever, including genetic mutations conferring resistance to ancient microbial pathogens and recommendations for genetic analysis of FMF. We now have recommendations for assessing genetic analysis of the MEFV gene and how to reliably classify a patient as FMF.

Monogenic Autoinflammatory Diseases: State of the Art and Future Perspectives

Giulia Di Donato et al.

Summary: Systemic autoinflammatory diseases are a diverse group of disorders with strong genetic backgrounds, involving dysregulation at multiple levels, and advances in genetic sequencing have led to the discovery of over 50 monogenic autoinflammatory diseases. This has provided better understanding of the underlying immune pathways and pathogenesis, offering new perspectives for targeted therapies.
