Prevalence and determinants of the precursor stages of heart failure: results from the population-based STAAB cohort study

Caroline Morbach et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify individuals at risk of heart failure in the general population by investigating a representative sample in Germany. They found a group of asymptomatic individuals with cardiac dysfunction predisposing to heart failure, who lacked established heart failure risk factors and therefore would have been missed by conventional primary prevention methods. Further studies are needed to replicate these findings and characterize their genetic and -omic profiles for better prevention strategies.

Rationale, design and baseline characteristics of the MyoVasc study: A prospective cohort study investigating development and progression of heart failure

Sebastian Goebel et al.

Summary: The MyoVasc study is an epidemiological cohort study investigating the development and progression of heart failure, aiming to improve the understanding of HF pathomechanisms, study current clinical classifications, and identify disease development subgroups through a systems-oriented approach. The study results suggest that by providing a large-scale biodatabase and multi-omics characterization, the research will contribute to advancing knowledge about the heterogeneous HF syndrome.
