Atom-Economical Cross-Coupling of Internal and Terminal Alkynes to Access 1,3-Enynes

Mingyu Liu et al.

Summary: This method presents a selective and catalytic approach for synthesizing 1,3-enynes without the need for prefunctionalized building blocks, allowing for highly regio- and stereoselective formation of the target products. It is versatile, scalable, and can operate effectively with as low as 0.5 mol % catalyst loading. Preliminary mechanistic experiments support a redox-neutral Pd(II) catalytic cycle.

Three-Component Carbosilylation of Alkenes by Merging Iron and Visible-Light Photocatalysis

Sukanya Neogi et al.

Summary: A mild, efficient, and one-pot protocol for three-component carbosilylation of alkenes with imidazoheterocycle and silanes has been developed by merging iron(II) and visible-light photocatalysis. This C-C and C-Si bond-forming method provides functionalized organosilicon derivatives having imidazoheterocycles moieties in good yields. The reaction possibly proceeds through a radical pathway.

Visible-light-induced silylation: an update

Sumit Ghosh et al.

Summary: Over the past two decades, visible-light-driven functionalization of various organic systems has achieved great success, reaching impressive levels of complexity and efficiency. Organosilicon compounds are significant due to their promising applications in various fields and they are known for being cheap, easily handled, highly stable, and less toxic. Therefore, there is now a high demand for environmentally friendly synthetic approaches, such as visible-light-induced silylation, for molecule construction with C-Si bonds.
