Efficient carbon dioxide hydrogenation to formic acid with buffering ionic liquids

Andreas Weilhard et al.

Summary: The study presents a methodology utilizing ionic liquids as buffers for catalytically transforming CO2 into formic acid with high efficiency. The combination of multifunctional basic ionic liquids and catalyst design enables the synthesis of formic acid with very high catalytic efficiency. This highly efficient catalytic system avoids the use of strong bases and the formation of formate salts.

Study on the Intensification of Reaction Kinetics and Reactive Distillation for the Esterification of N-Butyl Acetate Using [HSO3-BMIM][HSO4] as a High-Efficiency Ionic Liquid Catalyst

Ruining He et al.

Summary: A novel modified nonideal homogeneous kinetic model was developed by self-catalysis theory to increase the ester purity. The reactive distillation process intensified by using [HSO3-BMIM][HSO4] resulted in an increased BuAc purity. [HSO3-BMIM][HSO4] showed a higher acid conversion compared to commercial ILs and resins.

Efficient synthesis of dimethyl carbonate via transesterification of ethylene carbonate catalyzed by swelling poly(ionic liquid)s

Xin Wang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) via transesterification of ethylene carbonate (EC) and methanol (MeOH) was an environmental and practical strategy. Poly(ionic liquid)s (PILs) with swelling abilities were synthesized, and their swelling ability in methanol (MeOH) could be modulated by changing the cross-linker content and chain length of alkyl-substituents on imidazolium. The swollen PILs showed a porous cross-linked network structure and exhibited excellent catalytic activities for the transesterification reaction.

Regioselectivity of aminomethylation in 3-acetyl-7-hydroxycoumarins: Mannich bases and Betti bases

Fan Gao et al.

Summary: This study focused on the development of new 3-acetyl-7-hydroxycoumarin derivatives as anti-inflammatory agents, with Mannich bases showing stronger anti-inflammatory activity compared to Betti bases. The regioselectivity of aminomethylation was studied based on atomic electron density distribution, which helped explain the experimental outcomes.
