Ciguatera poisonings: A global review of occurrences and trends

M. Chinain et al.

Summary: Ciguatera Poisoning (CP) is the most prevalent seafood poisoning caused by ciguatoxins (CTXs) globally, primarily affecting carnivorous fish consumption. The highest incidence rates are reported in the Pacific and Caribbean regions, with an observed expansion of the geographical range of CP in recent years.

Fast inactivation of Nav current in rat adrenal chromaffin cells involves two independent inactivation pathways

Pedro L. Martinez-Espinosa et al.

Summary: The voltage-dependent sodium current in adrenal chromaffin cells (CCs) displays unique inactivation properties, with two distinct pathways of fast inactivation leading to conventional fast recovery and slower recovery, which are well-suited to mediate use-dependent changes in Nav availability. Short depolarizations favor recovery from fast recovery pathways, while longer depolarizations result in cumulative increases in the slow recovery fraction.
