Gaussian Inflection Point Selection for LiDAR Hidden Echo Signal Decomposition

Guoqing Zhou et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new Gaussian inflection point selection method (GIPS) for accurately decomposing LiDAR echo signals. The method iteratively decomposes the echo signal by using the number of inflection points to judge waveform half-width position, combines Gaussian components into a Gaussian model, and optimizes the model using a global Levenberg-Marquardt least-square algorithm. Experimental results show that GIPS can decompose complex LiDAR echo signals more accurately and efficiently.

Bathymetric-Based Band Selection Method for Hyperspectral Underwater Target Detection

Jiahao Qi et al.

Summary: A novel unsupervised band selection method is proposed for hyperspectral underwater target detection (HUTD) by embedding the bathymetric model into the band selection process. The method includes a bathymetric latent spectral representation learning scheme and an iteration-based band subset generation strategy to promote diversity and utilize spectral information effectively. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method compared to existing approaches.

Overview of Underwater Transmission Characteristics of Oceanic LiDAR

Guoqing Zhou et al.

Summary: This article presents an overview of the principle of LiDAR echo signal formation, focusing on simulation modeling methods and factors affecting modeling accuracy. Different methods discussed include analytical method based on radiation transfer equation and statistical method based on Monte Carlo model. The analytical method shows high calculation efficiency but depends on the approximation principle, while the statistical method provides analysis control over variables with lower calculation efficiency.

Comparison Analysis of Five Waveform Decomposition Algorithms for the Airborne LiDAR Echo Signal

Guoqing Zhou et al.

Summary: This article compares and analyzes the performance of five waveform decomposition algorithms under different topographic conditions, revealing that the Gaussian algorithm has the largest fitting error in forested areas, the Adaptive Gaussian algorithm can fit complex waveforms but has more outliers, and the Gold and RL algorithms decompose the largest number of waveform components in forested areas. The Gold algorithm is effective for processing data in areas with dense vegetation at a lowest false component detection rate.
