In situ arsenic immobilisation for coastal aquifers using stimulated iron cycling: Lab-based viability assessment

This study has allowed the likely location of the contamination source to be identified, enabling specific investigations to definitively remove the anthropogenic source of boron.

Summary: This study conducted intermittent geochemical monitoring of the Galleria Italia waters, revealing that the chemical composition is mainly influenced by the congruent dissolution of gypsum, with contributions from carbonatic and silicatic minerals, along with partial solubilization of CO2 and H2S oxidation. Additionally, high contents of trace elements Al, Mn, and Fe were found in the waters, while dissolved mercury was mostly below the detection limit.
