Promoting healthy eating in the community sport setting: a scoping review

Summary: Community sport organizations can promote social connection and physical activity, but they may also contribute to the consumption of unhealthy food and beverages. Factors such as limited availability of healthy options and unhealthy food and beverage sponsorship contribute to unhealthy food choices. Existing interventions to promote healthier choices have had limited success in this context.

Examining the Effects of Unhealthy Product Sponsors and CSR on Sport Sponsorship Authenticity and the Sporting Event

Summary: This study analyzed how consumers interpret sponsorship associations towards sporting events through the ELAM model, finding differences in authenticity, elaboration, and attitude among healthy, unhealthy, and CSR experiments. Emotion positively impacted event-related behavioral intentions in all three experiments, while attitude did so only in the healthy experiment. The findings highlight the significant impact of sponsorship associations on consumer evaluations of events.

Facilitators and barriers to healthy food selection at children's sports arenas in Norway: a qualitative study among club managers and parents

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the experiences of club managers and parents with food selection at handball halls. Results showed that both club managers and parents generally desired a healthier food selection, but faced barriers such as potential profit loss, limited facilities, and the perception that unhealthy food supports the social environment. Participants viewed trainers as important role models for promoting healthy eating, and believed that national guidelines could facilitate healthier food options in sports settings.

Appetite for change? Facilitators and barriers to nutrition guideline implementation in Canadian recreational facilities

Summary: This study investigated facilitators and barriers to implementing provincial nutrition guidelines in recreation and sports facilities in three Canadian provinces. The findings identified facilitators such as clear expectations of guideline implementation, communication to staff around guideline directives, and the presence of a champion supporting guideline implementation, as well as barriers including unhealthy food culture, competition from other food providers, and issues in food service contracts.
