Post-traumatic stress disorder in refugee minors in an outpatient care center: prevalence and associated factors

Jakob Veeser et al.

Summary: Refugee minors have an increased risk of developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to their exposure to multiple traumatic events. This study found that the prevalence of PTSD among refugee minors in outpatient care was 61.6%. Significant predictors of a PTSD diagnosis included the number of interpersonal traumatic life events, age, residence status, and time since arrival in the host country.

Chronic Social Defeat Stress Mouse Model: Current View on Its Behavioral Deficits and Modifications

Wang Wang et al.

Summary: Stress is the main cause of mood disorders, with individuals responding differently to stress. The CSDS mouse model can mimic individual differences in stress responses in humans and has been used to study depression and anxiety. Research has focused on summarizing behavioral deficits of the CSDS mouse model and developing modified versions for future studies and applications.

Does inflammation link stress to poor COVID-19 outcome?

Steven J. Lamontagne et al.

Summary: COVID-19 not only affects patients with poor lung conditions, but also has a severe impact on patients with diseases such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, which may be related to inflammatory responses. It is predicted that chronic stress may interact with the inflammation caused by COVID-19, leading to a potentially fatal cytokine storm syndrome.

Amygdalar endocannabinoids are affected by predator odor stress in a sex-specific manner and modulate acoustic startle reactivity in female rats

Lucas Albrechet-Souza et al.

Summary: Understanding sex-specific effects of predator odor stress on amygdalar endocannabinoids may provide insights into the vulnerability to chronic psychiatric disorders. This study revealed differences in endocannabinoid levels in the amygdala of male and female rats exposed to stress, with implications for behavior regulation in females.
