Prediction of Cardiovascular and All-Cause Mortality After Myocardial Infarction in US Veterans

Bing Lu et al.

Summary: This study developed risk prediction models for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and all-cause death in myocardial infarction (MI) survivors. The models were based on 5-year follow-up data of 100,601 patients and showed significant associations between various factors and the risk of CVD or all-cause death. The models performed well in predicting the risk of death, and the observed risk was well calibrated with the predicted risk.

Association of multiple preventive therapies postdischarge and long-term health outcomes after acute myocardial infarction

Chih-Wei Chen et al.

Summary: An investigation was conducted on the association between different preventive drug regimens post-AMI and long-term outcomes. It was found that patients who received all three preventive medications had the lowest mortality rate in the 24-month follow-up period, while those who did not use any of the medications had the highest mortality rate. This pattern was consistent across different cohorts over time.

An international comparison of long-term care trajectories and spending following hip fracture

Walter P. Wodchis et al.

Summary: This study compared the use of different post-acute care settings in different countries following a hip fracture, as well as three important outcomes: total expenditure, total days of care in different settings, and overall longevity. Variations were found across countries in terms of utilization of services, longevity, and expenditures, suggesting opportunities for organizing post-acute care differently to maximize independence and mitigate costs.
