Evaluating the effects of guided coaching calls on engagement and outcomes for online acceptance and commitment therapy

Michael E. Levin et al.

Summary: Previous research on the effects of guided support in online interventions has yielded mixed results. The current study found that phone coaching had minimal additional benefit in an online ACT intervention for distressed college students, with only significant improvements in psychological inflexibility. Overall, this suggests that online self-guided ACT interventions with email prompts are sufficient for addressing college student mental health.
