Prospective longitudinal association between repeated multiple breath washout measurements and computed tomography scores in children with cystic fibrosis

Rikke Mulvad Sandvik et al.

Summary: In children with CF, there was no significant progression in SLD over 2 years, with half of the children showing improvement in bronchiectasis. LCI and M2 values increased and correlated with SLD at follow-up. Discordant outcomes were found between N2MBW and CT results in half of the children.

A phase 3, double-blind, parallel-group study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tezacaftor in combination with ivacaftor in participants 6 through 11 years of age with cystic fibrosis homozygous for F508del or heterozygous for the F508del-CFTR mutation and a residual function mutation

Jane C. Davies et al.

Summary: Tezacaftor/ivacaftor demonstrated efficacy in improving lung function and CFTR function in patients aged 6 to 11 with F/F or F/RF genotypes, while also being safe and well tolerated with no new safety concerns identified.

Longitudinal course of clinical lung clearance index in children with cystic fibrosis

Bettina S. Frauchiger et al.

Summary: This study described the longitudinal course of LCI in children with CF during routine clinical surveillance, finding a more pronounced increase in LCI during adolescence. Factors such as colonization with Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Aspergillus fumigatus, pulmonary exacerbations, CF-related diabetes, and bronchopulmonary aspergillosis were associated with a higher increase in LCI over time.

Unsupervised phenotypic clustering for determining clinical status in children with cystic fibrosis

Nicole Filipow et al.

Summary: A comprehensive machine-learning algorithm was developed to assess clinical status independent of lung function in children with cystic fibrosis. Phenotypic clusters were identified based on clinical data, showing different disease severities and risks of hospitalization and exacerbation. The algorithm showed low error rates in cluster allocation and could help predict future disease trajectories in CF patients.
