Identification of the different salivary Interleukin-6 profiles in patients with periodontitis: A cross-sectional study

Gaetano Isola et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with periodontitis had significantly higher levels of salivary IL-6 compared to healthy subjects; salivary IL-6 levels were negatively correlated with C-reactive protein, number of teeth, CAL, PPD, and FMBS; in patients with periodontitis, salivary IL-6 levels were inversely associated with the number of teeth, and directly associated with the extent of periodontitis (CAL, PPD, FMBS).

Analysis of galectin-3 levels as a source of coronary heart disease risk during periodontitis

Gaetano Isola et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with periodontitis and periodontitis + CHD had significantly higher levels of serum and salivary Galectin-3 compared to CHD patients and healthy subjects. Periodontitis and ET-1 were identified as significant predictors of serum and salivary Galectin-3 levels, respectively.

Risk factors for postoperative nausea and vomiting after the removal of impacted third molars: a cross-sectional study

Hiroaki Hasegawa et al.

Summary: Maintenance of anesthesia with volatile anesthetics is a major risk factor for PONV, with no interaction between fentanyl and volatile anesthetics. Controlling the use of volatile anesthetics can significantly reduce the risk of PONV.

Changes in the Biomarkers of Oxidative/Nitrosative Stress and Endothelial Dysfunction Are Associated with Cardiovascular Risk in Periodontitis Patients

Nadia Ferlazzo et al.

Summary: This study found that patients with cardiovascular disease and periodontitis share common risk factors, with plasma biomarkers related to inflammatory status in these patients; certain gene expression levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells were significantly up-regulated in patient groups. This suggests a possible link between oxidative stress, inflammasome activation, and endothelial dysfunction in periodontitis patients leading to the pathogenesis and progression of coronary heart disease.
