Baseline parameters and the prediction of treatment failure in patients with intravenous drug use-associated spinal epidural abscesses

Justin Baum et al.

Summary: This study aims to identify the baseline parameters that predict multimodal treatment failure in patients with spinal epidural abscess (SEA), with or without intravenous drug use (IVDU). It was found that patients with IVDU-associated SEA have distinct baseline characteristics compared to non-IVDU SEA patients. Identifying relevant prognostic factors will contribute to the development of tailored treatment and follow-up regimens.
