The chicken or the egg: The reciprocal relationship between job insecurity and mental health complaints

Yannick Griep et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between job insecurity and mental health using multiple theoretical frameworks. The findings suggest that the stability of job insecurity is positively related to stress, social exchange mechanisms, and mental health complaints. Additionally, stability in mental health complaints also influences perceptions of job insecurity, while stability in absenteeism is related to job insecurity perceptions.
