Diversity of microbial communities and soil nutrients in sugarcane rhizosphere soil under water soluble fertilizer

Huan Niu et al.

Summary: The application of water soluble fertilizers can alleviate soil acidity, increase soil organic matter, dissolved organic carbon, and available potassium contents, leading to improved agronomic parameters and sugarcane yield. The enrichment of beneficial symbiotic bacteria is promoted by water soluble fertilizers, enhancing soil nutrient content and ultimately impacting plant growth and crop productivity.

Vegetation richness, species identity and soil nutrients drive the shifts in soil bacterial communities during restoration process

Meiling Liu et al.

Summary: The study shows that soil bacteria play a crucial role in ecosystem functioning, and during the restoration process, vegetation richness and improvement in soil nutrients are key factors driving shifts in soil microbial community structure and function.

Total and denitrifying bacterial communities associated with the interception of nitrate leaching by carbon amendment in the subsoil

Chen Chen et al.

Summary: The study found that carbon amendment in greenhouse soils can significantly reduce nitrate leaching, increase nitrogen content in the subsoil, and enrich specific bacterial genera. Carbon amendment may achieve these effects by activating denitrifying and anaerobic bacterial populations.

Resistance of microbial community and its functional sensitivity in the rhizosphere hotspots to drought

Xuechen Zhang et al.

Summary: Climate change affects soil microbial communities and activities, and this study focused on how the bacterial community structure and genes encoding N-cycling enzymes in rhizosphere hotspots and coldspots of maize responded to drought. The results showed that enzyme activities in rhizosphere hotspots were more resistant to drought due to collaborative relationships between bacteria and increased gene copies encoded by Actinobacteria.

Manure Microbial Communities and Resistance Profiles Reconfigure after Transition to Manure Pits and Differ from Those in Fertilized Field Soil

Kimberley Sukhum et al.

Summary: In agricultural settings, the transfer of microbes and ARGs between dairy cow manure, manure pits, and field soil was studied using shotgun sequencing and functional metagenomics. The results showed restructuring of microbial taxonomic compositions and resistance profiles during the transitions, but no evidence of shared microbial community or ARG transfer between manure and soil microbiomes. Field soil communities remained resilient to manure-induced perturbation, highlighting the resilience of soil microbial communities against ARG deposition.

Soil phosphorus fractionation and its association with soil phosphate-solubilizing bacteria in a chronosequence of vegetation restoration

Yanlin Zhang et al.

Summary: Vegetation restoration significantly influences soil phosphorus forms and microbial diversity, with PSB playing a crucial role in enhancing P availability. As vegetation restoration progresses, soil PSB diversity increases, with rare PSB groups promoting the abundance of PSB.

Soil pH and nutrients shape the vertical distribution of microbial communities in an alpine wetland

Enze Kang et al.

Summary: The study found that bacterial diversity in the 0-20 cm soil depth of Lalu Wetland was significantly negatively related to pH, while fungal diversity was positively related to pH. Soil ammonium content was positively correlated with bacterial diversity at the 20-40 cm soil layer. Bacterial community structure was most significantly related to soil organic carbon, while fungal diversity and community structure were significantly related to soil organic carbon, available phosphorus, and available potassium.

Microbiome change of agricultural soil under organic farming practices

Deep Chandra Suyal et al.

Summary: The study compared the nutrient status and microbial diversity between organic and conventional soils. Organic farming practices were found to improve soil carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus content, as well as increase the numbers of diazotrophs and phosphate solubilizers. Clinically important bacterial genera were observed in conventional soil but completely absent in organic soil.
