Thermo-Responsive PLGA-PEG-PLGA Hydrogels as Novel Injectable Platforms for Neuroprotective Combined Therapies in the Treatment of Retinal Degenerative Diseases

Jose Javier Lopez-Cano et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a thermo-responsive-injectable hydrogel based on PLGA-PEG-PLGA to deliver neuroprotective agents to the retina over time. Two PLGA-PEG PLGA copolymers with different ratios were synthesized and characterized, and HyG-1 was selected for further studies and loaded with anti-inflammatory drugs and antioxidants. In vitro drug release and cytotoxicity studies were performed, showing sustained release of drugs and good tolerance in retinal cells. The developed hydrogels represent a novel biodegradable tool for treating neurodegenerative processes in the retina.

Simultaneous doxorubicin encapsulation and in-situ microfluidic micellization of bio-targeted polymeric nanohybrids using dichalcogenide monolayers: A molecular in-silico study

Reza Maleki et al.

Summary: This study revealed the significant impact of MoSe2 on the stability and size of RF-targeted micelles, and demonstrated that the microfluidic method is the most effective way to synthesize nano carriers. The use of MoSe2 monolayer, micelle containing RF, and microfluidic method were believed to be the best approach in order to improve the quality of micelles for cancer treatment.

Experimental and Computational Study on the Microfluidic Control of Micellar Nanocarrier Properties

Sima Rezvantalab et al.

Summary: This study evaluated microfluidic and bulk syntheses of riboflavin-targeted poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-poly(ethylene glycol) micelles experimentally and computationally. The computational approach revealed that the size-determining factor in microfluidics is the boundary of solvents in the entrance region of the microchannel, explaining the size difference between microfluidic and bulk methods. This computational approach can be a powerful tool for gaining a deeper understanding and optimizing NP synthesis.
