Recreational watercraft decontamination: can current recommendations reduce aquatic invasive species spread?

Shrisha Mohit et al.

Summary: Decontamination of recreational watercraft and equipment after use is important for preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species among lakes. Current methods include pressure-washing, hot water rinsing, using cleaning agents, or air-drying, but their effectiveness against a variety of AIS is not well-understood. Further research is needed to evaluate practical, alternate, or combined measures to inform better management practices.
