Assemblage structure and distribution of fish larvae on the North Kenya Banks during the Southeast Monsoon season

James Mwaluma et al.

Summary: The North Kenya Banks (NKB) is the broadest area of continental shelf along the Kenyan coast, with potential to improve livelihoods of local fishing communities. Biophysical parameters such as zooplankton abundance, temperature and conductivity play a role in determining fish larvae assemblages in the NKB region. The area may serve as an important nursery area for migratory fish, with implications for fisheries across the wider Western Indian Ocean.
