The rediscovery of M. robustus in the Brazilian Amazon, 37 years after the first collection in Cuba, represents the first record of this species in South America and the second in the world. This study provides a detailed morphological description and a comparative taxonomic discussion with the type specimen and the only other known species, M. levisporus.
Thirty-seven years after the first collection in Cuba, Mycelephas robustus has been found in the Brazilian Amazon. The rediscovery of this species is also the first record of M. robustus in South America and the second in the world. A detailed morphological description is provided along with a comparative taxonomic discussion with the type specimen and with the only other known species, M. levisporus.
