Early Changes in Serum Albumin Predict Clinical and Endoscopic Outcomes in Patients With Ulcerative Colitis Starting Anti-TNF Treatment

Sun-Ho Lee et al.

Summary: The study suggests that changes in serum albumin levels within the first 2 weeks of anti-TNF treatment can predict primary nonresponse, endoscopic outcomes, time to colectomy, and anti-TNF failure in patients with UC. Early access to this biomarker may help identify patients at risk of treatment failure and guide early optimization of anti-TNF therapy.

Hair EDX Analysis-A Promising Tool for Micronutrient Status Evaluation of Patients with IBD?

Georgiana-Emmanuela Gilca-Blanariu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated hair concentrations of various trace elements in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) compared to healthy controls. The results showed significant differences in the profile of trace element concentrations in IBD patients, with decreased levels of iron, magnesium, calcium, selenium, and increased levels of sulfur. Additionally, hair calcium concentration and sulfur concentration were significantly correlated with disease activity.

Oral magnesium supplementation for insomnia in older adults: a Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis

Jasmine Mah et al.

Summary: The study found that magnesium supplementation can reduce sleep onset latency time and improve total sleep time in older adults. However, the existing research has a moderate-to-high risk of bias and low quality of evidence, therefore not sufficient to support the usage of oral magnesium for older adults with insomnia.
