Pancreatic lipase and ?-amylase inhibitory activity of extracts from selected plant materials after gastrointestinal digestion in vitro

Justyna Siegien et al.

Summary: The study evaluated inhibitory effects of fractions obtained from Chaenomeles japonica and Hippophae rhamnoides extracts on pancreatic lipase and α-amylase activities after artificial gastrointestinal digestion. The main active constituents were procyanidins and isorhamnetin derivatives in the extracts, correlating with significant inhibitory activity.

Alpha-amylase as molecular target for treatment of diabetes mellitus: A comprehensive review

Navjot Kaur et al.

Summary: Alpha-amylase is a calcium metalloenzyme that aids digestion but also causes postprandial hyperglycaemia, making it a therapeutic target for managing blood glucose levels. Various enzymatic inhibitors have been effective in targeting this enzyme, leading to interest in developing potent alpha-amylase inhibitor molecules. The focus of research has been on designing different derivatives of drug molecules to interact with the target receptor and exhibit biological activities.

Cornuside Alleviates Diabetes Mellitus-Induced Testicular Damage by Modulating the Gut Microbiota

Liping Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that cornuside (Cor) can alleviate diabetes-induced testicular damage by modulating gut microbiota, including improving testicular lesions, increasing testis/body weight ratio, enhancing hormone levels, inhibiting apoptosis, and boosting sperm count and motility. Additionally, Cor can reverse changes in gut microbiota and impact the abundance of certain bacteria.
