Sex differences in regional adipose tissue depots pose different threats for the development of Type 2 diabetes in males and females

Kerri Z. Delaney et al.

Summary: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has different prevalence rates in males and females due to differences in regional adipose tissue characteristics. Obesity increases the risk of T2DM by affecting adipokine and cytokine release. Immune cell infiltration plays a pathogenic role in both sexes, but through different routes. Female adipose tissue's ability to expand through hyperplasia protects against the development of insulin-resistant adipocytes.

Investigating the Impact of Extruded Dehulled Adlay with Specific In Vitro Digestion Properties on Blood Lipids in Subjects with Mild to Moderate Dyslipidemia

Chieh Chung et al.

Summary: Dyslipidemia, a common risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, can be modulated by dietary changes. This study found that increasing slowly digestible starch intake through consuming processed dehulled adlay can help lower blood lipid levels, especially in middle-aged individuals.
