Summary: The fermentation product from Bifidobacterium breve C50 and Streptococcus thermophilus 065 may enhance immune response by promoting Th1- and Th17-type cytokines in vitro. In vivo, dietary intervention with this product increased vaccine-specific delayed-type hypersensitivity responses, indicating a potential positive impact on adaptive immunity. Although no effects were observed on humoral immunity and specific T-cell responses, increased levels of systemic galectin-3 and galectin-4 ratios were correlated with enhanced DTH response, suggesting a shift in immune balance.

Effects of a Postbiotic and Prebiotic Mixture on Suckling Rats' Microbiota and Immunity

Summary: The study aimed to examine the effects of supplementing with a postbiotic (Lactofidus(TM)) and its combination with prebiotics short-chain galactooligosaccharides (scGOS) and long-chain fructooligosaccharides (lcFOS) in healthy suckling rats. Results showed that nutritional interventions modulated the Ig profile, while the prebiotic mixture and postbiotic induced differential effects on fecal consistency, microbiota composition, and SCFA profile. The combination of scGOS/lcFOS and Lactofidus (TM) had synergistic effects on animal growth, suggesting a good strategy to modulate immune and microbial features in early life.
