Chili Consumption and Risk of Gastric Cancer: A Meta-Analysis

Yanbin Du et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis found that moderate to high chili consumption is associated with an increased risk of gastric cancer. Dose-response analysis showed a significant positive association between high chili consumption and gastric cancer risk, while moderate chili consumption showed no significant association. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias test indicated reliable results.

Association of Dietary Cholesterol Intake With Risk of Gastric Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies

Peng Miao et al.

Summary: This study found that dietary cholesterol intake significantly increased the risk of gastric cancer in case-control studies, with a positive association between high cholesterol consumption and gastric cancer risk observed. Prospective cohort studies with larger sample sizes and longer follow-up durations are needed to confirm these findings.

Alcohol consumption and risk of stomach cancer: A meta-analysis

Wenting Deng et al.

Summary: The study revealed a significant association between alcohol consumption and increased risk of stomach cancer. Heterogeneity in results across different regions and subsites of stomach cancer indicates potential factors such as smoking rates, Helicobacter pylori infection, obesity, and genetic susceptibility. The dose-response analysis showed that higher daily alcohol intake is correlated with a higher risk of stomach cancer.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

The association between soy-based food and soy isoflavone intake and the risk of gastric cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Yameng Wang et al.

Summary: Soy-based foods and isoflavone intake may have a protective effect on gastric cancer, but the specific impact is inconclusive. Overall soybean intake could reduce the risk of gastric cancer, while high intake of fermented soybean products may increase the risk.

An umbrella review of the evidence associating diet and cancer risk at 11 anatomical sites

Nikos Papadimitriou et al.

Summary: Research suggests that diet and nutrition play a role in the risk of developing various types of cancer, with certain food/nutrient associations showing strong evidence. Alcohol consumption, dairy intake, and calcium are associated with different risks of developing cancer. Studies using umbrella reviews of meta-analyses can provide insights into the strength of evidence linking food and nutrients to cancer risk.
