Accuracy of body composition measurement techniques across the age span

Grace L. Rose et al.

Summary: This study investigated the accuracy of various body composition techniques compared to the reference 4-compartment (4C-R) model. It found that only the 3C-R and 4C-R equations were acceptable for individual measurement, while all techniques reached equivalency to the 4C-R model for fat-free mass (FFM). Sex and age had minimal influence on accuracy. For group estimates, any technique could be used for FFM, but incorporating total body water (TBW) measurement was necessary for accurate measurement of fat mass (FM).

Multidimensional Approach to Assess Nutrition and Lifestyle in Breastfeeding Women during the First Month of Lactation

Andrea Gila-Diaz et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the nutritional status of 30 breastfeeding women in the first month postpartum, finding deficiencies in energy, water, vitamin D, and potassium intake, while there was an excess of proteins, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, and iron intake. Most women showed high adherence to fruits, vegetables, and oil categories, but low adherence to physical activity, dairy products, and hydration. The study also demonstrated a negative association between a nutritional dimension combining physical activity, hydration, and animal protein intake with body weight.
