Effect of Nanostructuring on the Thermoelectric Properties of β-FeSi2

Linda Abbassi et al.

Summary: Nanostructured β-FeSi2 and β-Fe0.95Co0.05Si2 specimens with up to 95% relative density were synthesized by combining a top-down approach and spark plasma sintering. The thermoelectric properties of the samples were significantly improved, with an increase in the figure of merit by factors of 1.7 at 670 K and 1.2 at 723 K, mainly attributed to changes in thermal conductivity and phonon scattering.

Electrochemically converting micro-sized industrial Si/FeSi2 to nano Si/FeSi for the high-performance lithium-ion battery anode

Qiang Ma et al.

Summary: A method utilizing magnesium in molten salts to convert industrial bulk ferrosilicon alloy into nano-sized Si/FeSi was reported in this study. The self-driven alloying-electro-chemical dealloying process enabled the extraction and circular use of Si atoms, leading to the preparation of a high-capacity and stable cycling performance nano Si/FeSi@C anode.
