Flux Pinning Docking Interfaces in Satellites Using Superconducting Foams as Trapped Field Magnets

Michael R. Koblischka et al.

Summary: This article introduces the potential applications of trapped field magnets in Flux-Pinning Docking Interfaces (FPDI) in satellite systems. Compared to traditional FPDI, TF-FPDI has stronger magnetic field strength and lighter weight, and can be used for both chasing and docking tasks. The use of superconducting foams as superconducting material can further reduce the system weight.

Correlation Between Density and Levitation Performance of YBCO Bulk Superconductor Over Halbach NdFeB Guideway

Rong Tang et al.

Summary: This study measured the density of different shapes and sizes of YBCO bulk samples and studied their levitation force and relaxation performance. The results showed a significant correlation between density and levitation performance. For samples with uniform fabrication process and similar properties, higher density means larger levitation force and smaller relaxation ratio.

Low-cost and high-performance 3D printed YBCO superconductors

Diogo Mendes et al.

Summary: In this study, high-performance YBCO 123 bulk superconductor samples were produced using 3D printing paste-extrusion technique. XRD, EDS, and Raman analysis confirmed the presence of YBCO phase in both powder and samples made with pre-mixture. SQUID measurements showed that the printed samples have a typical magnetization temperature of 92 K.

The processing and properties of bulk (RE)BCO high temperature superconductors: current status and future perspectives

Devendra K. Namburi et al.

Summary: The development of (RE)BCO cuprate HTS towards sustainable engineering and technological applications has steadily progressed since 1986, primarily due to their ability to trap large magnetic fields at accessible temperatures. The current state-of-the-art processing of (RE)BCO bulk superconductors for high-field applications is reviewed, focusing on optimized critical processing parameters and recent advances in processing techniques such as the integration of buffer techniques and nano-size stable phases. Applications and prospects for the future utilization of these materials, particularly in medical and pharma-industries, are also briefly discussed.

Summary: In this study, YBCO bulk superconductors with a multiscale hierarchical geometric configuration were constructed using a 3D printing process, showing low shrinkage and good electromagnetic properties after sintering. The multilevel void structure significantly reduces oxygenation time and retains superconductivity.
