Numerical investigation of the failure mechanism of cubic concrete specimens in SHPB tests

Mei Li et al.

Summary: This study numerically analyzes the stress state and failure mode of cubic and cylindrical concrete specimens subjected to uniaxial impact load. The results show that the lateral inertial confinement of cubic specimens is lower, leading to more severe damage at the corners. This explains the difference in dynamic material strengths obtained from the two types of specimens and their dependence on strain rate.

Micro CT Image-based Simulations of Concrete under High Strain Rate Impact using a Continuum-Discrete Coupled Model

Xin Zhang et al.

Summary: The continuum-discrete coupled modelling approach successfully simulates the complicated fragmentation phenomena of concrete under high strain-rate impact. By utilizing the Johnson Holmquist concrete constitutive law and node-split method, it avoids unrealistic losses and has been validated for reliability.

Development of dynamic constitutive model of epoxy resin considering temperature and strain rate effects using experimental methods

Gang Luo et al.

Summary: The study focused on the compression properties of TDE86 epoxy resin at different temperatures and strain rates, revealing that the elastic modulus, yield stress, and yield strain of the epoxy increase with strain rate but decrease with temperature. The dynamic stress-strain curve of the epoxy can be divided into four stages, and there is no distinct relationship between yield strain and logarithmic strain rate at high strain rates.

A new criterion of coal burst proneness based on the residual elastic energy index

Fengqiang Gong et al.

Summary: A new energy criterion called the residual elastic energy index was proposed to evaluate the coal burst proneness more precisely. Through experimental tests and observations, a reliable evaluation criterion for coal burst proneness was successfully established based on the distribution of elastic energy in coal samples.

Dolomite fracture modeling using the Johnson-Holmquist concrete material model: Parameter determination and validation

Michal Kucewicz et al.

Summary: The Johnson-Holmquist concrete (JHC) constitutive model was used to simulate the fracture of dolomite in this paper. A detailed procedure for determining parameters was proposed based on experiments, and the model was validated through various compression tests. The simulation results were shown to be in good agreement with experimental data, indicating the model's effectiveness for further blasting simulations.
