The Behavior of Hybrid Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Elements: A New Stress-Strain Model Using an Evolutionary Approach

Ali A. Abdulhameed et al.

Summary: This study presents a new empirical stress-strain model for predicting the strength of polyvinyl alcohol and steel fiber reinforced concrete. Through experiments and data analysis, it was found that the model is consistent with the experimental results. Furthermore, case studies of hybrid fiber-reinforced concrete structures provide insights into the behavior of this material.

Genetic programming based symbolic regression for shear capacity prediction of SFRC beams

Wassim Ben Chaabene et al.

Summary: This study developed a symbolic regression model based on synthetic data to predict the shear strength equation for SFRC beams without stirrups, achieving superior predictive accuracy compared to existing equations. Sensitivity analysis revealed that the shear-span-to-depth ratio was the most influential parameter in the proposed equation. This research provides an enhanced predictive model for the shear capacity of SFRC beams and suggests further use of evolutionary algorithms with synthetic data when comprehensive experimental datasets are not feasible.

An evolutionary approach for formulation of ultimate shear strength of steel fiber-reinforced concrete beams using gene expression programming

Hassan Sabetifar et al.

Summary: This paper presents a semi-empirical model using GEP technique to estimate the ultimate shear strength of SFRC beams without shear reinforcement, with a dataset of 266 beams used for development and validation. The model's accuracy was confirmed through predicting unseen data and evaluation using statistical criteria, showing superior performance compared to other models in the literature.

Optimum Design of Flexural Strength and Stiffness for Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Machine Learning

Nazim Abdul Nariman et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an optimization approach for the design of reinforced concrete beams' flexural strength and stiffness, utilizing machine learning-based surrogate modeling to predict structural responses and support in design optimization. Experimental and numerical results show excellent agreement in terms of failure type and cracking pattern, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method.
