Development and Validation of a Tumor Mutation Burden-Related Immune Prognostic Signature for Ovarian Cancers

Mengjing Cui et al.

Summary: We found that tumor mutation burden (TMB) is closely associated with the prognosis of ovarian cancer (OC). The TMB associated immune risk score (TMB-IRS) signature can effectively predict the prognosis of OC patients. Furthermore, TMB-IRS is also correlated with immune cell infiltration levels and immune checkpoint molecules in OC.

Construction and validation of an RNA-binding protein-associated prognostic model for colorectal cancer

Yandong Miao et al.

Summary: The study identified 178 differentially expressed RBPs, with 121 up-regulated and 57 down-regulated. A prognostic model based on nine RBPs showed that patients in the high-risk subgroup had worse overall survival (OS). The area under the curve value of the model was 0.712 in the TCGA cohort and 0.638 in the GEO cohort, indicating a moderate diagnostic ability. The c-index of the nomogram was 0.77 in the TCGA cohort and 0.73 in the GEO cohort, showing that the risk score is an independent prognostic biomarker and some RBPs may be potential biomarkers for CRC diagnosis and prognosis.

Establishment of a novel glycolysis-related prognostic gene signature for ovarian cancer and its relationships with immune infiltration of the tumor microenvironment

Jianlei Bi et al.

Summary: This study constructed a prognostic model related to glycolysis for ovarian cancer, identifying 8 prognostic genes that effectively predicted patient survival. The results showed a close relationship between these glycolysis-related genes and immune cell infiltration in the tumor microenvironment.

Variant PNLDC1, Defective piRNA Processing, and Azoospermia

L. Nagirnaja et al.

Summary: Four men of Middle Eastern descent with nonobstructive azoospermia were found to carry mutations in the PNLDC1 gene, leading to abnormal meiosis and spermatogenesis. Testicular histologic findings showed errors in meiosis and spermatogenic arrest in these men, indicating a direct mechanistic effect of faulty piRNA processing on male infertility.

CACNA1C is a prognostic predictor for patients with ovarian cancer

Xiaohan Chang et al.

Summary: In ovarian cancer (OC), CACNA1C has lower expression in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues, with significant impact on overall survival and diagnostic efficiency. CACNA1C is an independent risk factor for OS in OC patients and is closely associated with immunity.

RNA Binding Protein-Based Model for Prognostic Prediction of Colorectal Cancer

Ting Li et al.

Summary: The study focused on the association between RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) disorder and colorectal cancer, identifying an 8-RBP signature as a potential prognostic biomarker for CRC patients. High-risk score based on this signature was significantly correlated with poor prognosis. The model showed accurate and effective prognostic value in validation dataset, illustrating its potential as an independent prognostic indicator for CRC.
