Effect of emergent carotid stenting during endovascular therapy for acute anterior circulation stroke patients with tandem occlusion: A multicenter, randomized, clinical trial (TITAN) protocol

Francois Zhu et al.

Summary: The TITAN study aims to investigate the optimal treatment for acute ischemic stroke patients with anterior circulation tandem occlusion, focusing on the efficacy of intracranial mechanical thrombectomy combined with emergent internal carotid artery stenting.

Acute carotid stenting in patients undergoing thrombectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Gabrielle Dufort et al.

Summary: The meta-analysis suggests that acute carotid stenting in TL patients undergoing EVT is associated with a higher likelihood of favorable outcomes at 90 days compared to no stenting, without significant differences in mortality or symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage risk.

Postprocedural Antiplatelet Treatment after Emergent Carotid Stenting in Tandem Lesions Stroke: Impact on Stent Patency beyond Day 1

R. Pop et al.

Summary: Discontinuing dual-antiplatelet therapy did not increase the risk of stent thrombosis beyond the first postprocedural day, and there was no significant difference in the rate of subacute/late stent thrombosis between the group with continuous dual-antiplatelet therapy and the group with absent/discontinued therapy. Further studies are needed to determine the additional benefits and optimal duration of dual-antiplatelet therapy after tandem lesion stroke thrombectomy.

Antiplatelet Therapy During Emergent Extracranial Internal Carotid Artery Stenting: Comparison of Three Intravenous Antiplatelet Perioperative Strategies

Francois Delvoye et al.

Summary: In emergent stenting of EC-ICA, Cangrelor and Aspirin have better safety profiles than Abciximab, with fewer intracranial hemorrhages and a higher rate of good clinical outcomes. Additional studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Safety and Efficacy of Low-Dose Tirofiban Combined With Intravenous Thrombolysis and Mechanical Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Matched-Control Analysis From a Nationwide Registry

Gaoting Ma et al.

Summary: Low-dose tirofiban administration in acute ischemic stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy with preceding intravenous thrombolysis did not show an increased risk of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage or intracerebral hemorrhage. There were no significant differences in safety outcomes, successful recanalization, dramatic clinical improvement, or functional independence at 3 months between the tirofiban and non-tirofiban groups. Further randomized clinical trials are needed to confirm the effects of tirofiban in patients undergoing bridging therapy.
